Live action remake of one of the classic animated movies, Beauty and the Beast has been one of the most talked about movies and all for the right reasons. This remake of the old classic hits the right cords due to some amazing work done by the Bill Condon, who is director of the movie.
The story starts with an enchantress pretending to be a beggar asking for shelter from a Prince in exchange for a rose. The cold hearted Prince laughs off this offer to which the beggar reveals her true self and curses the Prince and turns him into a beast. Her curse is bound to a rose and will only break if someone actually falls in love with the beast. However, he only stands a chance to live normal life till the rose dies. The day last petal of the rose falls of its stem, the Prince and his servants will lose their humanity and will continue to live this life.
The story moves depicting years moving on and Belle, played by Emma Watson, enters the scene like fresh air. No one could have played the role of a strong and kind hearted princess other than Emma. Belle lives in a small town with her father. The town might be a small one but it cannot possibly limit Belle’s mind to think big. She is not a typical lady like girl that the town is used to of seeing. She only has a handful of admirers; however, a huge lot of people have something to say about her. With all the things going on in life, Belle has to deal with Gaston as well, her not so secret admirer who is the biggest narcissistic of his time.
Living in her own bubble, Belle waited for her father to return back to town from work but little did she know something big awaits her. The mysterious return of her father’s horse immediately draws her attention that something is not right. The horse takes Belle to her father who is inside the castle trapped by the beast. Belle decides to save his father’s life by sacrificing hers by agreeing to live like a prisoner in the castle for the rest of her life. To Belle’s surprise, life in the castle is not as horrifying as she thought it would be. She becomes friend with the living creatures of the castle and soon she learns that the beast shares same interest as her i.e. reading books.
The movie is a modern touch to the old classic fairy tale. There are some clever changes made in this remark that do not go un-notice. The plot moves on the Belle’s father trying to find her while Belle finding herself attached to Beast and her world. There is some breath taking moments in the movie, the Ball dance being the highlight. The cast of the movie has done amazing job and there couldn’t have been anyone else who could have these roles any better. This movie is a treat for people who have a thing for old classic being remake into modern era.
